It appears that Justin is the first thing Brian thinks of.  That's a good thing.

Author's Response:

Yes indeed, YumYum, Brian has already felt the connection to Justin that he had the first time around, so naturally he thought of him first when having his breakthrough.  I can promise a lot more connection in the next chapter.  Hope to see you then.  Huge hugs, Grammy

It’s a date... oh, Brian, you still have it bad and you don’t even know it... TAG

Author's Response:

You are so right, TAG, but he will get a clue in the next chapter, although he might not be able to decipher it quite yet.  Thanks for the fun comment.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Finally Brian and Justin got the "Purloined" sketches back from that two-faced Michael. My ass, he took them because he thought they would cause Brian emotional stress. I'm under no illusion that Michael took them hoping Brian would never see Justin again, and he thought if Brian saw the sketches his interest would peak. (Hey, I'm no dummy!) You know, it makes me wonder just what Mikey thinks about "the reunification" of Brian and Justin. BTW... Did Michael invest in the brown folder? Because I doubt that's how Brian had them in the loft. Anyway, so Mikey must have done a "Thorough" cleaning when looking for the sketches, being he found "The Sketch". I have to wonder what our little Mikey thought about Brian being the one to purchase it. And it was nice to see Brian gave Mikey a little bit of sarcasm regarding him taking the sketches in the first place.

And alas, Michael is thinking about NOT going to Portland to live with David? Interesting. Debbie should find that intriguing. And Michael will probably get his slap on the head, and a lecture for it. Brian was right... Debbie was looking forward to having a doctor for a ‘son-in-law’.  I wonder if Brian will ever hear of the birthday party he gave Michael, and the events surrounding Tracy.

I could actually 'see' the smile on Justin's face when Brian complimented his talent as an artist. I loved Brian's little 'idea' for getting together to search the loft for any remaining sketches. (Don't tell Brian, but he could do that during the week, when Justin's not there! ;)  But any excuse for them to be together again, I'll buy it!

Thank you so much for updating this again. I really missed it, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Are you feeling any better, yet?

Hugs ~ Cathy

Author's Response:

Oh boy, big smile as always when I see your name, Cathy.  Yes, I suspect that Michael didn't leave any stone unturned once he visited Brian's loft on a mission to simply check on the place for his friend while hospitalized.  Then he found the folder full of sketches and felt it his duty to 'protect' Brian from any stresses once he returned home.  Thus the thorough search which turned up the hidden naked sketch.  Actually, I think Brian bought the folder and put all but the naked sketch in it so that he could give them back to Justin eventually but simply never got around to it.  Perhaps, deep down he didn't really want to give them up.

As we know, Michael never did go back to Dr. Dave (which personally made me very happy, because I really, really did not like both the character and the actor who played him).  This story won't bring Ben into the picture, so it will simply stand that Michael decides to stay in Pittsburgh.  As for the infamous birthday party... I can't see Michael bringing it up because it was one of those few times that he and Brian were on the outs with each other, something that Michael hates with a passion.

It's obvious that Brian is already looking for reasons to spend more time with Justin, and the sketches will lead to some very interesting times in the loft in the next chapter.  I hope to have it ready by the end of this coming week.  I am definitely feeling so much better, and thank you for asking.  Hope all is well with you too.  Huge hugs, Grammy

I'm just glad that Michael didn't keep something back for his own viewing pleasure.

Author's Response:

I have to laugh at this, YumYum.  I can imagine it being a little difficult for him to hand over that naked sketch, now that you mention it.  LOL!  That particular sketch will make another appearance soon.  See you then, and thank you for your comments.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Great update.  Love this story and can't wait to see where you go next with it.  Hope you are doing Ok

Author's Response:

First, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, Mamab.  I am feeling so much better now.  I was even able to almost complete another short story, which I hope to have posted within days.

This story still has a bit of life left before we reach the climax, but it isn't too far off now.  I hope you will continue to enjoy the journey as we reach that point.  Huge hugs, Grammy

My heart broke when reading this. The way Justin thinks it's his fault is so crushing, but I can see why he thinks it, even if he isn't right. I can't wait to read this story, your writing is always so beautiful x

Author's Response:

I am super happy to see your comments, SunshineSally.  I hope you will find this story interesting throughout the journey.  There will be a lot of angst at first, and it will take time for the trauma to work itself out, but a lot will happen in between.  Thank you so much for giving this story a try.  Warmest hugs, Grammy

OH!  I was so happy to see this posted again today. I do hope you are feeling better. If not, I wish you well, and a quick recovery.

So Brian and Justin were a little late. The shower sex more than made up for it. Even though Justin was tender, he still initiated it. Good to see were his priorities lie. ;)

Mel was being such a bitch! Does Brian know that he gave up his rights to his son? (I don't remember that being covered.)  Anyway, Mel best remember this is a different Brian. When he learns the events for the reason he signed over his rights, I think we will see a pissed off Brian. So I believe in her best interest she lighten up on Brian.

Maybe Brian won't fight so hard against Justin this time around, seeing the bashing has changed his perspective somewhat. Maybe it's best he doesn't remember the past too soon. Let him get to know Justin without any preconception notions. That way, IF and WHEN he remembers everything, he will see Justin in a new light, so to speak. And it's apparent just how much he already likes to spend time with Justin. So... maybe this time around will be better for both of them.

Justin was wondering which drawings Brian kept. Does Justin know which ones he should have? Hopefully, Michael only took the surface sketches and didn't dig too deep looking for 'The Sketch', and Brian eventually, accidentally, finds it in the closet, hidden away, because Brian never told anyone he bought it. Didn't Emmett say something about a desperate queen buying it and Brian said, 'Ted, you shouldn't have?' So, nobody knows. So, why would Michael look for a 'hidden sketch'?  Anyway, getting off track here...

Thank you for this update, and I look so forward to your next one. Take Care...

Hugs, Cathy

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, Cathy.  I am feeling much better with my back, although I now have a cold thanks to the 5 year old that I spent time with this last weekend.  LOL!  A cold is something I can deal with, however.

I knew my readers would forgive Brian and Justin for being late to the luncheon when you consider the reason behind it.  Poor Mel isn't quite so forgiving.  LOL!

Brian has been told about giving up his rights and the reason behind it.  Actually, as usual with Brian, he did it for a good reason.  He knew that Mel and Linds really love each other and it was the one thing that would bring them back together after their break-up if he gave Mel the legal right to be Gus' parent.  He often sacrificed for those he cared about, but didn't often get enough credit for it.  The relationship between Mel and Brian did get prickly often, but they also had a mutual respect for each other at times too.  It's complicated.

It won't be long before something does happen which will change everything, but in the meantime Brian and Justin will continue to build a new relationship with each other.  Some things just can't be denied.

Justin is aware of all the sketches he left behind, except for 'THE' sketch.  He never knew that Brian bought that one.  The next chapter will reveal what sketches Michael returns and everyone's reaction to them.  Hopefully, you'll find it interesting.  See you then, and thank you for always leaving such wonderful comments.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Things went very well for their visit in spite of their being late.  I can't wait to find out which of Justin's drawings Michael will return.

Author's Response:

Outside of irritating Mel, the girls were more than happy to see Brian and Justin, especially together.  As for the drawings, you won't have to wait long.  The issue of the drawings will be dealt with in the next chapter.  See you then, and thank you for the lovely comments, YumYum.  Huge hugs, Grammy

What a nice visit. Too bad it didn't spark any memories though. Um...when will something come thru for Brian? Hmmmmm anything? lol

I wonder if Michael damaged any of the drawings or maybe just gave them away lol

Author's Response:

Don't worry, Glo, it won't be too much longer before an event happens that will bring about huge changes.

Michael is smart enough to know that destroying anything of Brian's would be suicide, especially now that he knows of their existence.  We'll deal with that issue in the next chapter.  See you then.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Author's Response:

I love the fact that Brian wants to make new memories with Justin.  That says it all, really. TAG

Author's Response:

It is true that when you find your soul mate, nothing can stop you from connecting, or in this case re-connecting.  Brian is beginning to accept the fact that there is something about Justin that makes him special, and he is finally ready to explore what it is, just as he slowly did at the beginning of their relationship.  Next up, a visit together with Mel, Linds, and Gus.  Who knows what that will lead to?  Huge hugs, Grammy

I loved your recreation of the events portrayed at the beginning of the chapter. Your phraseology brought us right back to that moment.

Let’s see if we can make some new memories instead. *fans myself*  So glad Brian told Mikey to go with Ted and Emmett. Not sure why Justin didn't broach the topic when the guys were still there. But it worked out wonderfully.

I have missed this story. I was beginning to think you were MIA. But, at the same time, knew you were coming back. I was just anxious to visit... Babylon!  Now we have to sit patiently back and wait for the bed at the loft (or they going to christen the lounger and share ice cream kisses?) However you decide to write the scene, I know it will be HOT!

Thanks so much for this chapter... Looking forward to the next one.

Hugs, Cathy

Author's Response:

I have to confess that re-watching Season 1 so that I would get my facts straight wasn't exactly a hard task.  LOL!  I'm so glad you enjoyed the visit to the past.

Right now, Brian's only concern is learning more about this young man that everyone keeps telling him was so important to him.  He doesn't really have time to deal with Michael's issues.

Please don't worry about me abandoning this story.  Unfortunately, I do have a lot of health issues that come up and will sometimes slow me down, but I love this story and will keep on working with it until the end.  I also have a beta (the best in the world for me) who has a daughter about to be married so she isn't always able to get to chapters as quickly as in the past.  But she is devoted to the work and will always come through as quickly as she can.  I am so grateful for your support, and your always welcome comments.  I look forward to them eagerly with each new chapter.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Our boys are wicked sexy together & even sometimes sweet. Don't tell Brian! I didn't think he was gonna get his memories back in one night. It'll take time and hopefully lots of sex lol

Author's Response:

Poor Brian finds it hard to believe he acted the way that everyone tells him he did with Justin, but despite himself, he is drawn to the young man in the exact same way he did the first time.  They will continue exploring the past with their next visit, which will be with Mel, Linds, and Gus.  But who knows what event will finally shake free Brian's misplaced memories?  In the meantime, they'll just enjoy trying to get there.  Thank you so much for your great comments, Glo.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Seriously Michael? Of course he took them. I never understood why Brian let him have a key for years, knowing he was in love with him ugh! I hope Brian gets it back from him after this intrusion.

Author's Response:

Now, this is just my own personal opinion, of course, but the relationship between Brian and Michael is very complicated and sometimes hard to understand.  The two are more like brothers than just friends.  And as with so many siblings, they are not always on the same page, but no matter what the love is always still there.  If you'll remember, Brian was always able to escape to Michael's house whenever he needed to when they were growing up.  I believe that this is why Brian gave Michael a key to his place when they became adults... so that Michael could have a place to go whenever he needed to get away.

I also believe that Brian isn't 100% innocent in how Michael acts towards him.  He is obviously well aware of Mikey's feelings for him and I think it strokes his ego a bit to be loved so deeply.  And there were a number of scenes in the show where he did encourage Michael's feelings just a bit when they were together.  There are a number of times on the show when Brian, despite his self-assured attitude, does reveal a touch of insecurity about his place in his world.  He knows that Michael worships him, and that helps him.

Sorry for the long-winded response.  I am one of those people who (gasps) does not dislike Michael as much as so many others do.  I see him as very human.  Just as much as I see Brian as very human too who makes his own mistakes.  I love all of the main characters on the show because none of them are one-dimensional.

I do want you to know that I greatly appreciate your comments.  Thank you so much, Glo.  I hope you will enjoy the next chapter as we pay a visit to Babylon.  Warm hugs, Grammy

Well hopefully, maybe Babylon (and a trip to the backroom) might unlock a little glimmer of recognition.

Was a little disappointed Mikey got off with such a lame excuse. I wish Brian read it for what it was and asked, "Okay, Mikey... So, what's the real reason?" (That sounds like such a Brian thing to say). Because, why would seeing sketches of himself bother him? What's the with comparison of removing DILDO's from Ted's apartment so his MOTHER doesn't see them, to removing sketches that Brian would feel proud of to see himself portrayed like that? And during Mikey's visit to see Brian in his loft he could have easily mentioned he had some sketches of Brian... then when Brian asked what he meant, he could have admitted that Justin drew them, and left it up to Brian if he wanted to see them. Nope, just don't buy Brian or Justin letting it go so easily. Then again, Justin could have pointed out the difference between the two scenarios. Sorry for the rant, was just hoping it went down differently. Mikey's slight vindictiveness triumphed, again. Maybe we will get to see Brian finding out how Michael treated Justin when he first started hanging around with him.

Was happy to see another update, and hopefully we see them in action at Babylon next chapter.

Hugs, Cathy

Author's Response:

Ah yes, the backroom... whether it works in unlocking memories or not, it's worth a visit to try and do so.  Wouldn't you agree?

Please don't be too disappointed in how the night ended concerning Michael's mistake in judgement when he took the sketches.  I can promise you that we haven't heard the last about that.  It will come up again in the future.  The one thing that I have to say, is that I do think it is in character for Brian not to pursue it with Michael any further for now.  If you will remember, he even forgave Michael for that disgusting thing he said at the party about Justin.  And he also sacrificed his closeness with Michael in order to do what he thought was best for his friend/brother by throwing that birthday party.  Brian's feelings for Michael are complicated, but he does love him dearly (just not in the way that poor Mikey wishes he did).  At least, this is how I perceive the situation between the two of them.

Hold onto your seat, cause there will be plenty of action at Babylon.  That's a promise.  And you won't have long to wait.  Thank you again for your wonderfully insightful comments, Cathy.  I always eagerly look forward to them.  Huge hugs, Grammy

First, I wanted to thank you for answering my question about the sketches. I had glanced through that chapter, prior to asking you about it, but reread it when you clarified it was in Chapter 9. Only then realizing it was in the last paragraph, so I understood how I missed when I scanned the chapter. So happy to know that it will be addressed later.

Chris is really a loose canon. I don't think he'd have an opportunity to hurt either one on the Avenue, so I can only say I hope Justin is cautioned while at school.

So very glad the weasel is out of the picture... you know, on to the next prey. Ian actually gives me the shivers. AND, Definitely not good ones.

Chris' mother better be on alert of her husband's wrath when he finds out she funded the civil lawyer. She should have made Chris sign a loan agreement and had it notarized of the money borrowed. If Hobbs SR gets too angry, she might find herself out on the street. (maybe she can live with Chris)  hehe...

Looking forward to the night at Woody's, and more remembrances made.... :)

Was so happy to see this update. Love the storyline, and your magnificent writing.

Hugs, Cathy

Author's Response:

You are most welcome, Cathy.  I appreciate your questions a great deal and am more than happy to answer any you may have for me.  You will be happy to know that this next chapter will address the sketches directly, and Michael will have some explaining to do.  It should be ready for beta by the end of the week.

Hobbs is definitely a loose cannon, but I'm not quite sure where and how he will aim his cannonball yet.  Time will tell just how well he hits his target, if he does.

I love setting Ethan straight in all my stories.  He never gets his man as long as I'm in charge.  LOL!

Love your comments about Chris' parents.  Who knows whether they'll show up again.

Woody's will be the scene of some interesting conversation, just before everyone heads off for Babylon.  Oh yes, another spot that holds some memories for Brian and Justin.  Stay tuned for that.  And thank you so much for the very sweet comments.  I truly appreciate it.  Huge hugs, Grammy

One of the things I love best about the series was the banter between all the main characters, especially the boys.  I try hard to capture some of that in my stories.  I'm so glad you are enjoying it.
