I was wondering what happened to the fucking paintings... TAG
Author's Response:
They weren't forgotten ;) they were just the last thing on Brian's mind...
Date: Feb 12, 2019 9:25 am Title: Upside Down
Boy, Brian really has grown a lot by this point, hasn’t he? Even though he’s devastated he’s still resolute and mature enough to try and take things as they come. Way to go, Brian! TAG
Author's Response:
He’s trying really hard to keep it together. And yes, I’ve matured him quite a bit in this verse, which is a huge part of why I enjoy writing this version of him so much. He’s still jaded by his past, but he’s realized a lot of things over the years. He’s had this huge trauma that changed him not only physically but mentally as well. Plus, he’s 45 now...we all change as we get older. I just don’t see him staying stuck where he was in his early 30s.
Date: Feb 12, 2019 7:22 am Title: Moving On
Uh oh! Great job on the foreshadowing here - I had a bad feeling about Justin’s trip from the start... TAG
Author's Response:
Thanks! I’m glad it was effective and not too heavy handed.

Brian knows he can count on Justin. Also Cynthia and Ted to call him on his shit and Rob and Alex to keep on the straight and narrow.
Author's Response:
He certainly has a good support system! He’s lucky :)
Date: Feb 11, 2019 8:34 am Title: Beautiful
Quite a lovely wedding. TAG
Author's Response:
Thank you! This chapter was a challenge to write, because I wanted to do them justice. Since they didn't get their wedding in the canon.
Date: Feb 10, 2019 6:13 am Title: Fighting to Let Go
Powerful and stressful as Brian is still fighting and wanting to drown into the darkness; avoidance in full mode.
Hopeful as Justin is drawing, Brian is back home and Cynthia doesn't let Brian'BS take the lead.
Amazing chapter!
Author's Response:
Thank you! I was proud of how this one turned out. And I had some fun playing with metaphor too.
Date: Feb 10, 2019 2:16 am Title: Fighting to Let Go
What a powerful chapter. The emotion was so strong, and hopefully Brian will realize he has to deal with this before it is too late. Fantastic writing.
Author's Response:
Thank you! He does know now, even though he really doesn't want to do it. There's a lot going on in this chapter, for sure!
Date: Feb 08, 2019 9:35 am Title: Familiarity
I’m finally getting a chance to start this story. Yay! I love how detailed you get into Brian‘s condition – do you have a particular connection to paraplegia? TAG
Author's Response:
Yay, can't wait to read along as you make your way through the story! The subject matter was inspired by someone I knew years ago. I thought it would be interesting to explore with Brian, given the sort of changes it brings with it.
Date: Feb 04, 2019 3:13 am Title: Wake Up Call
What a powerful chapter. You must be exhausted when you finish one like this. Terrific writing. Now let's hope that both Brian and Justin will listen to Rob.
Author's Response:
Thank you! <3 Justin's panic in the last chapter and this one was difficult to write and required a lot of breaks. But it was important to the story. We are coming to a pivotal point now...
Date: Feb 03, 2019 7:19 pm Title: Wake Up Call
Wow powerful chapter it gave me some insight into the many barriers of being a paraplegic and how a partner or carer needs to know. We know it’s not just the physical it’s also the emotional
Author's Response:
Thank you <3 We are very complex creatures, aren't we? SCI is a major upset to a lot of different systems in the body -- with the one injury, you inherit a lot of other potential health problems down the road, and a lot to watch out for and take care of in order to maintain good health. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter!
Date: Feb 03, 2019 6:12 pm Title: Wake Up Call
Physically, Brian seems out of the woods; for the rest, he must start talking to someone and then to Justin; I don't think he should talk directly to Justin, as he must learn what to say and how to say it.
Author's Response:
Physically, he's going to be fine -- it's just going to take a little while, and he's had a bit of a wake up call here too. For the rest...that will be coming, and it's pivotal to being able to move on and live his best life without being haunted by the past.
Date: Feb 03, 2019 3:29 pm Title: Wake Up Call
There is so much that Brian should tell Justin. Same with Justin, but he doesn't know what it is he should be discussing. Rob has been a help since he's been through roughly the same thing. Maybe he should tell both Brian and Justin about his kidney stone episode. Justin wouldn't feel so bad.
Author's Response:
Brian and Justin definitely need to talk...and they will. Rob was sort of a big brother to Brian when they first met, because he'd been through all of it and come out on the other side. He's also a lot more open than Brian, as he mentioned in this chapter, which makes him more helpful than Brian as far as Justin is concerned here. Now, Justin has the info he needs to be the kind of partner he wants to be.
Date: Jan 28, 2019 7:32 pm Title: Emergency
Poor Justin. Lack of memory and anxiety is leaving feeling lost and guilty. He can't blame himself. Brian needs to open up when there's something wrong, especially with Justin's memory being as it is. Brian's really should know better. Yes he's stressing out about Justin, pushing himself with work, and worrying about everything else, well that's just Brian.
Author's Response:
Everything they have both been dealing with is coming to a head in a very messy way! And yes, feeling like he has to be in control of everything absolutely is Brian. To his detriment here.
Date: Jan 28, 2019 4:25 am Title: Emergency
Omg quick Rob get there Justin is going to be put on the psyche ward soon
Author's Response:
Rob will be there very soon. :) And Justin will be okay.

Shame he didn't call Rob right off the bat. Rob could have explain things better. Or Cynthia, I'm sure she wouldn't have minded. Can't wait for the next chapter.
Author's Response:
Cynthia wouldn't know the details they were asking for either, because a lot of it is things Brian is very private about, which is part of why Justin didn't know. I think in some way, Justin needed to try to handle this himself to prove he could do it, and he did.
Date: Jan 28, 2019 12:11 am Title: Emergency
Great chapter- Glad Justin had enough wits about him to Call an ambulance and to finally call Rob- We all need a Rob in our lives.
Author's Response:
Thank you <3 Rob is a very good friend, for sure. It's a good thing that they met that one day in the coffee shop. It took a lot of effort for Justin to do what was needed here, but he knew he had to do it. Rob will be telling us the story in the next chapter.
Date: Jan 27, 2019 11:11 pm Title: Emergency
Tissue time again. You must be exhausted from writing so much emotion. Fantastic writing. Now to wait just like Justin is. They are just suffering so much
Author's Response:
This chapter was pretty intense and challenging to write. It took me a while to write his gradual breakdown, and I had to take a lot of breaks, because when I write I do tend to get absorbed. I'm glad you liked it, even though it made you cry. <3

I hope Rob will arrive before Justin loses it completely and ends in the psych ward. I don't know what is happening to Brian, but it seems really serious.
Author's Response:
Even through his anxiety, Justin is still doing what needs to be done. And Rob will be there soon to help. Brian's workaholic tendencies and his propensity toward avoidance of anything involving discussing feelings have come together into a situation that even he will not be able to ignore.
Date: Jan 21, 2019 3:04 am Title: Stress Response
All the signals that something was wrong was there. A hospital is what is needed.
Author's Response:
Yep...Brian is still the expert at ignoring and hiding things like this...
Date: Jan 20, 2019 6:11 pm Title: Stress Response
Oh no!!! Justin is starting to feel better and Brian's body is crashing; if only he wasn't so stubborn, he could have seen someone and avoided a trip to the hospital with potential organs' failure.
Author's Response:
It's a complication, for sure...and it's going to be an important one. Brian is very hard-headed, to his detriment in this situation. But, Justin is stepping up and taking charge...
Date: Jan 20, 2019 6:09 pm Title: Stress Response
Oh no, more problems. Just how much can they take. Tissue time. Great writing as usual.
Author's Response:
Thank you <3 This is serving a very, very important purpose in bringing us toward the end of the story. (And I promise, this is not a death fic.)
Date: Jan 15, 2019 3:05 pm Title: Adaptation
Doesn't knowing he'd manage to improve before help? If he did it once couldn't he do it again?
Author's Response:
This injury is a little different from his last one, and it's also complicated by the last one, so recovery is a little different this time. But he is figuring it out. <3
Date: Jan 15, 2019 2:18 am Title: Adaptation
Just wonderful. Fantastic writing. So glad that Justin can see the future. Brian is his rock and keeps him grounded. Even with their problems, they are good. Thank you for such an amazing chapter. Tissue box out once again.
Author's Response:
Thank you <3 Sorry it took me so long to respond - and sorry I made you cry! Justin is starting to dig his way out, for sure...
Date: Jan 13, 2019 9:53 pm Title: Adaptation
Wonderful chapter!!!
Justin's despair at the beginning is fanning as soon as he is helping Brian and himself at the same time, without knowing it. They are already well connected, but this is a new link or an old one restored: Justin gets Brian's directives and can put them in place; as he said, he is not there yet, but once in a while, he could help and save the contract.
He is ambidextrous and could get better with his left hand while working to get the right in a better shape: it's a win-win situation.
Author's Response:
Thank you so much <3 I'm always glad to hear people are enjoying the updates! Justin took a huge leap in this one...very significant. And his tie to Brian here is so important. Just like it's easier to show kindness to others than to ourselves, it's easier for him to do more if he's doing it for Brian compared to doing it for himself. But he made that jump at the end of this chapter too. Now, he just has to retrain his left hand again.
