Ahh... so very rewarding. I loved the story. I think why your stories resonate with me, is they are simply a touching story. Not a lot of racy sex, which is how I try and write too. Story and plot developement.
It's too bad that there didn't turn out to be a miracle cure. I don't know anything about the medical issue he had. But thank god it's fanfic, so authors can dream up medical cures. ;)
Wonderful ending to a wonderful story.

Definitely a wonderful Brian. Maybe the cancer had a lot to do with it. He also never had anyone to help him during that time. My life is the same way after Covid. Three weeks in an ICU will do that to a person.
I love the changes Brian was having done in the loft. I started to think someplace for Danny to sleep, but then I figured it wouldn't take that long. So this was nice. It also showed Justin that Brian wasn't just moving them in because they had nowhere to live.

I'm hugely confused. Brian was telling Justin all this stuff he wanted done on the picture and Justin was just doing it. Then at the end, Brian waited for Justin to be engrossed in work so he could call Ted. So it seems that Justin can hear, but yet again, even in Babylon, he had to feel the music.
As I said earlier, I like this Brian. The fact that Debbie isn't warning him about not hurting Sunshine, also tells us that.

If Brian only knew how sweet Emmett was, and how underhanded Michael and Ted were. Now I wonder if Ted works for Brian. Because, if so, I think it will be uncomfortable if Justin's ever at Kinnetik.
I get the feeling Justin will help with the Allegheny Springs Bottled Water campaign. Since Daniel is staying at Debbie's, I bet Justin will stay at Brian's, thus seeing the account boards, and will make some changes - The right changes. Ahh, will Justin get a bonus?

I love this Brian. He accepts everything. Like when he first met him in the diner, he was pleasant and congenial. Didn't treat Justin like a pest.
I have a little confusion going on. You have: He had never heard a sound, yet Justin wrote: My ears work fine. I presume it will all work its way out.
I'm also curious about Justin's mother. Was it just the two of them? Were they poor? Was she scraping by just to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads?

Such a very nice start. I guess I'm wondering why Justin was able to hear Brian, but can't talk. I guess it depends on the age Justin lost his hearing, or if it's a birth-related defect. Oooh... wouldn't it be wonderful if there's a surgery available.

Loved this story, very well written. I have several deaf friends that would appreciate the story and how it relates to things in their lives dealing with peoples reactions and not paying attention to think that just because they cannot hear that they don't know what is going on around them. Also the relationship between Justin and his son and Brian was very sweet and believable. Would love an extention of this story to see the boys grow up together and Brian and Justin's future.
